The 3 rd edition of The Likho Workshop for citizen journalists is here!

If you think you should be writing, here is an opportunity to get mentored by some of

the finest journalists in India today!

The Humsafar Trust & Bombay Dost, in association with MSA-DIVA, presents the 3 rd

edition of ‘Likho! A workshop for citizen journalists’.

Submit an original and unpublished 300 word article in English on a queer theme by

July 5, 2017. Twenty selected winners will undergo a two-day workshop in Mumbai,

where they will be trained by eminent journalists to hone their writing skills. A

certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course. They will also

get an opportunity to write for the forthcoming issue of India’s oldest LGBTIQ magazine

– Bombay Dost and compete for the Bombay Dost – Likho Writing prizes.

Terms and guidelines:

1. Entries submitted must be in English.

2. Writing can be in any format – news/event report, feature, opinion piece,

analysis, film/theatre/book/gadget/app review, memoir or personal essay as

long as it is original and relates to a queer theme.

3. You should be above 18 years of age to participate in the workshop. Please note

the tentatively workshop will be in last week of July 2017. The workshop will be

in Mumbai and will be conducted in English and Hindi.

4. The last date for entries is July 5, 2017.

5. The decision of Likho Judges decision is final and binding.

6. Each participant grants license to Bombay Dost to feature any and all of their

submissions on any of their websites, in the magazine or promotional material.

7. The short listed winners will be announced on July 15, 2017.

8. This competition is open to global participation. However, only Indian Domestic

travel for winner to and from cities in India to Mumbai will be provided, via

train. Outstation candidates will be provided accommodation as per availability.
