Organisation Background:
The Humsafar Trust (HST) is India’s first community-based organization (CBO) of self-identified gay men, MSM, Hijras and LBT persons. HST organizes advocacy workshops for health care providers, law enforcement agencies, judiciary, legislators, Government bodies, media, and student community to sensitize them on Gay, MSM and TG issues. 

Along with legal support, crisis management, mental health, and nutrition counselling to its communities.

The HIV interventions of HST are supported by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and Mumbai District AIDS Control Society (MDACS) to provide health services to Men who have sex with men (MSM) and Transgender communities every year through Public Health Care delivery systems and its Inhouse clinics.

Project NETREACH Overview
The Humsafar Trust has embarked on a three-year HIV intervention project that aims to reach out to the high-risk, key population by virtual outreach. This virtual population needs to be brought into the ambit of the National HIV intervention programs. The project is supported by The Global Fund (GFTAM) and the Principal Recipient is India HIV/AIDS Alliance.

Communications and Project NETREACH
The goal of the communications campaign is to execute a pan-India HIV Awareness campaign for Project NETREACH, while increasing Reach, Social Behavioural Change across online platforms and keeping the Project objective in focus which has the potential to have a significant impact on creating health-seeking behaviour, to increase the demand of services.

The goal of the communication campaign is to motivate people to get tested, promote access to treatment, link to care and support and reduce stigma and discrimination. 

An executive role that supports the Communications department in executing communications strategies and supports Social Media management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Point of contact for coordination between the Stakeholders – Creative Agency and Communications Manager.
  • Research and media planning for the campaign which includes Press engagements,
  • Connecting with Brands, Apps marketing teams, Media planning on the digital space, media buying, positioning opportunities for ads and managing collaborations and community engagement online.
  • Aligning Marketing plan for NETREACH campaign deliverables
  • Social Media management – posts
  • Create and deliver press releases, media relations content, case studies, white papers, executive bios, newsletter content, social media content, and speaking proposals.
  • Supports the social media specialists.
  • Research media coverage and industry trends and create reports.
  • Develop fresh story ideas, collect, and use case studies, Project related findings for PR.
  • Conduct extensive media outreach.
  • Prepare briefing materials.
  • Influencer /Collaboration engagement and management (Regional, National level and Celebrity etc)
  • Tracking and reporting analytics on marketing and communications campaigns and coordinating promotional events.
  • Coordinate conferences and press interviews.
  • Sourcing and managing PR engagements/ events online.
  • Managing events (offline and online)

Qualifications and skills:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a communication or marketing role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or journalism
  • Superior time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate with partner agencies and get leads for PR work.
  • An analytical mind and ability to think critically.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of digital marketing and marketing strategies
  • Good knowledge of the select market and customer segments in Public Health would be an advantage.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a knack to writing a variety of different content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, website copy, and brochures and press releases.
  • Design skills (knowledge of Canva and other social media creative tools- video and design) effective writing skills desired.
  • Knowledge of the current digital communication space used for digital marketing.
