Health Worker – Research

Background: The Humsafar Trust (HST) is India’s first community-based organization (CBO) of self- Identified homosexual men, MSM, Hijras and LBT persons that started in April 1994.  We at The Humsafar Trust are looking for eligible candidates for the position of Health Worker for a short-term research study conducted in Delhi & National Capital Region. 

Project description: The research study is funded by International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC) and is a 6 months project that aims to investigate the efficacy of a structured internet-based messaging intervention on HIV testing among men who have sex with men on virtual platforms in Delhi & NCR. The study will be implemented by HST as the principle research institute. The Health Worker under this study will be responsible for providing health services including referrals and linkages to the study participants and co-ordinate with the partners for 3 months only

Main Job responsibilities:

  • Overall management and coordination of all project-related activities including coordinating the site activities.
  • Providing health services including referrals and linkages to the participants.
  • Data collection, analyses, and report writing as deemed essential on the project
  • Assisting in writing documents/ and training materials.
  • Co-facilitate and actively participate in training workshops.
  • Provide active inputs and feedback about the research project activities.


Minimum qualifications and skills required:

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in provision of HIV services including testing, referral and ART services in Delhi NCR.
  • Excellent knowledge and awareness of internet-based apps and platforms used by MSM. Desired candidate must have experience navigating these platforms and must have awareness on modes of operations of different platforms.
  • To display clear commitment towards community work and solid work ethics.
  • Superior communication skills and potential to influence and motivate masses are essential.
  • Previous experience of at least 2 years with the MSM community or PLHIV. Candidates who identify within MSM/ PLHIV communities will be given preference. 
  • Knowledge of English and one more language (especially local language) is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in health sciences, public health, social work, sociology, psychology or social sciences will be preferred. Master’s degree in related domain is desirable. 
  • Previous training on community work in either counselling, outreach or peer educator profiles is desirable. Understanding of research and counselling ethics is a bonus

Time Involvement

The Health Worker will devote 100% time to the organization and the project on which they have been recruited. The Health Worker will report to the Project Manager (Research).
