Digital Content Officer

Organization Background:

The Humsafar Trust (HST) is India's first community-based organization working for the health and human rights of LGBTQ+ individuals. Established in 1994, HST has been at the forefront of advocacy, capacity-building, research, crisis intervention, and legal and social empowerment for LGBTQ+ communities across India. The organization works with national and international stakeholders to strengthen LGBTQ+ inclusion in policy, education, healthcare, and workplaces.

 

As part of its TRANScend Initiative, HST is expanding digital accessibility and information-sharing for transgender and LGBTQ+ communities through online platforms, ensuring reliable access to research, advocacy materials, media resources, and legal information.

 

Role Background:

The Consultant – Digital Content & Community Resource Management will play a key role in managing and expanding HST’s digital information platforms. The consultant will independently identify, curate, and upload trans and LGBTQ+ community-focused content, ensuring that the latest research, policy updates, community initiatives, and news are well-documented and accessible.

 

This role is ideal for someone who is deeply connected to LGBTQ+ community spaces (both online and offline), understands digital content management, and is passionate about strengthening knowledge-sharing and advocacy.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Content Curation & Information Management:

· Identify, collect, and organize research papers, policy documents, advocacy materials, and media reports related to LGBTQ+ rights and transgender issues in India.

· Update and maintain trans and LGBTQ+ community directories, including Trans-led CBOs, advocacy networks, and organizations.

· Track and archive community-driven news, event updates, and legal developments.

 

2. Digital Platform & Website Management

· Manage and regularly update HST’s LGBTQ+ information platforms and websites with fresh content.

· Ensure easy accessibility, categorization, and searchability of resources.

· Work with the internal team to optimize website content, structure, and engagement.

 

3. Community Engagement & Dissemination

· Stay actively connected with LGBTQ+ networks, social media spaces, and online advocacy platforms to source emerging content.

· Establish and maintain relationships with Trans-led organizations, researchers, journalists, and activists to ensure consistent updates.

· Develop and implement dissemination strategies to share relevant content with community stakeholders, including newsletters, mailing lists, and social media outreach.

4. Coordination & Reporting

· Collaborate with HST’s advocacy, research, and communications teams to align content strategy with broader organizational goals.

· Maintain documentation of all uploaded resources and content updates.

· Provide monthly reports on platform engagement, new content additions, and emerging trends.

 

Qualifications & Competencies

· Strong LGBTQ+ community engagement – Deep understanding of trans and LGBTQ+ issues in India and well-networked with community groups and digital advocacy spaces.

· Digital proficiency – Experience with website content management systems (CMS), online archives, and digital tools for organizing information.

· Content curation & research – Ability to identify, analyze, and summarize research papers, policies, and advocacy materials.

· Independent working ability – Self-motivated and able to take ownership of content identification, curation, and uploads without constant supervision.

· Strong writing & communication skills – Able to write summaries, categorize information, and create accessible digital content.

· Attention to detail – Ensures accuracy, relevance, and accessibility of all published content.

· Candidates with background in social sciences, Journalism, Media Studies, Gender Studies, or a related field preferred.

· Minimum 1-2 years of experience in digital content management, research, LGBTQ+ advocacy, or community engagement.

· Prior experience working with LGBTQ+ organizations, online resource hubs, or research institutions is preferred.

· Working knowledge of content management systems (CMS), website updates, and digital tools is a plus.

 

Compensation:

We offer market-aligned, equal-pay compensation based on experience, community exposure and technical knowledge.
