Compensation: ₹10,000–₹15,000 per month (based on experience and skill set)
About Us:
Founded in April 1994, The Humsafar Trust (HST) is India’s first community-based organisation (CBO) of self-identified LGBTQ+ persons. Through its Equity & Inclusion initiatives, HST works towards strengthening the socioeconomic inclusion of LGBTQ+ communities by improving access to education, livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic opportunities. Our mission is to create an inclusive and supportive environment for the community, and we are seeking a passionate and creative intern to join our Equity and Inclusion team.
Position Overview:
The intern is expected to support The Humsafar Trust’s digital visibility and outreach efforts through our platform, CONNECT NORC LGBTQ+. This role involves managing and uploading content to the website, adapting materials from social media, and assisting in the research and collection of data related to LGBTQ+ initiatives, CBOs, and queer-affirming healthcare providers. We welcome candidates who bring attention to detail, an interest in community-driven storytelling, and a passion for using digital tools to support equity and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Uploading: Collect content from partner social media posts and repurpose it for our website (e.g., initiative updates, event highlights).
- Formatting & Editing: Monitor and maintain content accuracy, formatting, and visual consistency across the portal.
- Website Maintenance: Update existing content when required (e.g., dates, images, links).
- Basic Media Handling: Upload accompanying images, videos, or documents when needed.
- Data Collection: Research and compile information about queer-affirming doctors, clinics, and local CBOs to support ongoing directory and resource efforts.
- Day-to-Day Support: Assist with documentation, data entry, and organising workshops, events, and activities.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Passionate about LGBTQ+ advocacy and community-building.
- Prior experience or education in media, communications, or social media management is preferred.
- Comfortable using content management systems to upload, edit, and manage website content (we use tools like WordPress or ProcessWire).
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal (or your preferred mode of communication).
- Creativity and ability to think outside the box when it comes to storytelling and messaging.
- Familiarity with graphic design is a plus (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
