About the Fellowship
PGIMER, under the CARET (Consortium for Advancing LGBTQ+ Health Research, Policy Engagement & Training) Project, which is supported by DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (IA), invites applications for Clinical Research and Training Programme (CRTP) Fellowships focused on LGBTQ+ Health.

Research Focus Areas
Applicants with interests in the following LGBTQ+ health areas are especially encouraged. However, other LGBTQ+ health-related topics will be considered as well:
• LGBTQ+ Ageing – Mental & physical health, access to care, social support
• Lesbian, Bisexual, and Queer Women – Visibility and health disparities
• Therapeutic Interventions – With LGBTQ+ couples and families
• Gender Affirmative Services
• Access to Quality Healthcare for LGBTQ+ communities
Fellowship Details
• Number of Fellowships: 3
• Duration: 3 years, Full-time
• Fellowship (Individual Support) Amount: ₹70,000–1,00,000 per month (based on qualifications and experience)
• Additional Support: Research funding as per institute norms
• Optional PhD pathway: Selected CRTP Fellows will have an opportunity to do their Ph.D. during the fellowship, although this is not mandatory. Candidates willing to be admitted to the PhD program need to clear the PhD entrance examination conducted by PGIMER.
Eligibility:
• MBBS, BDS, MD/MDS and other medical postgraduate degree holders
• Research focus on LGBTQ+ health
• No concurrent fellowships
• Willing to accept CRTP terms & conditions
• Indian citizens
How to Apply
Call for applications: Twice a year – May & November until the 3 positions are filled.
Application Process:
1. Submit a brief bio sketch & research concept note
2. Screening by the CARET committee
3. Shortlisted candidates present their proposal in an interview
4. Final selection by panel (which may include a representative from DBT/Wellcome India Alliance)
Fellowship starts: July 2025 or January 2026
Deadline for submission for the July cohort: June 15, 2025
