About the organization:

The Humsafar Trust (HST) is a community-based organisation (CBO) working on the health & well-being of the LGBTQ+ communities since 1994. We currently work in the health, advocacy, research and capacity building of LGBTQ+ communities across India. While our Health vertical focuses on reaching out to 10,000+ community individuals every year with our health, prevention and testing services through offline and online outreach; our Advocacy & Inclusion vertical focuses on socioeconomic inclusion and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community in the society through projects themed around sensitisation, education, employment, livelihood and crisis management; and lastly our Strategic Information and Research vertical focuses identifying changing trends and needs of the community on health and well-being level and present formal data to guide fieldwork, services and support offered to the community. Additionally, significant efforts are taken to build capacities of younger CBOs across India on delivery of healthcare and support services to the community.

 

Purpose:

The Organisation Development Support Grant under TRANScend is designed to provide capacity enhancement resources to transgender-led or transgender-serving CBOs and initiatives across India. The grant will strengthen internal systems, increase operational sustainability, and improve service delivery capabilities of grassroots initiatives.

The TRANScend Project: TRANScend is an initiative by The Humsafar Trust which aims to enhance socio-economic inclusion of transgender persons in India. TRANScend, as an initiative, is committed to encouraging greater community ownership, facilitating partnerships between the community and various stakeholders like corporates, educational institutes, judiciary, bureaucrats and providing a platform for addressing the ever- evolving needs of the transgender community through ongoing research and intervention. This project focuses on enhancing economic resilience of transgender persons in India.

 

Priority Areas:

This grant can be used to strengthen any of the following areas in a transgender-serving/transgender-led organisation or initiative:

a) Legal registration or compliance processes.

b) Conducting internal trainings on documentation, finance, HR, or leadership

c) Creation or revision of internal policies (HR, finance, safeguarding, etc.)

d) Building financial systems, MIS or data management practices

e) Website development or Brand building.

f) Any other intervention directly contributing to organisational growth and sustainability

 

Deliverables:

· The activities should be implemented within the period of 12th May 2025 to 20th June 2025.

· 50% will be paid as advance and 50% will be paid on submission of the programmatic reports and statement of expenditures along with original bills. Any activity and expenses will not be allowed after the mentioned period.

Activity Amount: INR 50,000 (Fifty Thousand Rupees Only)

 

Eligibility to apply:

The grant is open to transgender-led registered CBOs, informal initiatives, or community leaders. Applicants must submit a one-page proposal that includes:

· Background and organisational context

· Identified development needs

· Proposed interventions or actions

· Budget breakdown

· Expected outcomes and how they will be measured

Priority will be given to CBOs that demonstrate innovative solutions to sustainability and express commitment to long-term community service.
