Background:
The Organization, "The Humsafar Trust" is registered in the Public Trust’s Registry Office in the Department of Public Trusts, Mumbai under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 (Bombay Act No. 29 of 1950). The Humsafar Trust (HST) is a community-based organization (CBO) working on the health and human rights of LGBTQ since 1994. The key focus of our work includes health and human rights, besides HIV prevention and mental health programs. The LGBTQ+ community encompasses diverse identities and experiences, including those of families of queer individuals. One powerful way to advocate for understanding, acceptance, and support is through storytelling. This project aims to produce a film that showcases the narratives of parents and families of LGBTQ+ individuals, emphasizing queerness, acceptance, and familial bonds. The film will serve to disseminate information, foster empathy, and empower parents/families to become more sensitive caregivers.
Objective:
The primary goal of this project is to create a compelling film that showcases the narrative stories of parents and families of LGBTQ+ persons, highlighting themes of acceptance and care. By sharing authentic stories, we aim to promote understanding, acceptance, and support within families and communities.
Scope of Work:
- The consultant will develop a concept and script for the Short Film on the identified themes and will be responsible for its execution. This should be original and not directly derived from any popular content or copyrighted material.
- The consultant will outline a detailed plan for pre-production activities, including but not limited to casting, location scouting, script development, and logistical arrangements.
- The consultant will execute the filming phase according to the approved plan, ensuring sensitivity, respect, and authenticity in capturing the stories of LGBTQ+ individuals and their families.
- The consultant will be responsible for the implementation and produce/submit pieces of work on the agreed-upon theme.
- The consultant is expected to provide regular updates and seek final approval on all creative choices for the work as a part of the project.
- The consultant is expected to work on English subtitles of the film and share the final product in two versions: with subtitles and without subtitles to The Humsafar Trust.
- The consultant is expected to submit 2 versions of the short film which are a mixed track version and an unmixed track version.
- The consultant will be responsible for submitting the final product(s) within specified deadlines.
- The consultant is expected to acknowledge the support of The Humsafar Trust and CSR Support by Dorf Ketal Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd. in their work.
- All the produced materials will be under the ownership and purview of The Humsafar Trust, and the consultant shall not share/ publish them with any third parties.
- The final creative call rests with The Humsafar Trust
Selection Criteria:
- Applicants are required to submit a Technical Proposal, which includes a value statement, concept note, timeline of implementation, and financial break-up.
- Preference will be given to those who have experience in working on sexual orientation gender identity, and human rights issues.
- Working experience with LGBTQ+ will be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of LGBTQ+ and their challenges will be considered as an asset.
Evaluation of Technical Proposal:
- One-page value statement indicating the suitability to carry out the assignment. (20 points) • A detailed proposal, complete with a concept note and timeline of implementation. (30 points)
- A Financial budget break up. (10 points)
- Last 1-2 years and ongoing assignment/project details with results that are relevant/semi-relevant to the proposed assignment. (20 points)
- Detailed CV/Profile of the consultant/individual along with References of clients with projects concluded in a similar capacity. The applicant must mention their Name, Postal Address, Email address, and Telephone Number. (20 points)

Submission Guidelines:

Deliverables:
- Short Film accompanied by an original non-copyrighted score, available in both subtitled and non-subtitled versions.
- Short Film accompanied by an original non-copyrighted score, available in both mixed and unmixed tracks.
Budget:
The consultant will receive a fixed amount of Rs. 2,50,000 (Rupees Two Lakh and Fifty Thousand Only), inclusive of taxes. provided after the successful completion of the selection process. The above-mentioned amount will be paid in 3 installments.
- 30% in the first month of the project.
- 30% at the submission of the first draft of the work.
- 40% upon successful completion of the video. After the project, the short films will be disseminated by The Humsafar Trust on their social media handles.
