RFP- HST-UNNATI2-AI001
Request for Proposals (RFP) for producing Short Film (fiction) on Workplace Inclusion
General Area of work: Creation of one Short Film (fiction)
Project Period: 45 (October 16th 2024 - November 30th 2024)
Deliverable Due: October 2024
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE:
The Humsafar Trust, India's first Community-Based Organisation for LGBTQ+ people, was founded in 1994 and has been working on LGBTQ+ health and rights for more than 30 years. The Trust started by welcoming lesbians and gays to its programs on Fridays at its drop-in centre. Numerous workshops on HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ+ rights were held at the drop-in centre, and it soon became evident that the trust would need to work hard to protect the community's health and human rights.
The HIV interventions of The Humsafar Trust are supported by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and Mumbai District AIDS Control Society (MDACS), to provide health services to Men who have sex with Men and Transgender communities every year through Public Health Care delivery systems and its In-house clinics.
To enhance our advocacy efforts, we plan to develop a Short Film (fiction), on the theme of Inclusion in the Workplace. This short film will feature LGBTQ+ community members and or Allies in the workplace setting. The storyline will aim to foster safer organizational environments. Our goal is to disseminate information effectively while presenting it in an engaging and contemporary manner to capture the audience's attention.
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITY:
In India, awareness and understanding of the LGBTQ+ community are gradually reaching the broader population. However, this sure but slow progress often results in inhospitable environments for LGBTQ+ individuals, including in their workplaces. Many community members prefer to remain closeted to avoid hostility. While resources addressing workplace inclusion exist, they often lack a specific focus on the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals. As a result, challenges for accessing livelihood opportunities and to sustain in the workplace persist for LGBTQ+ individuals.
A supportive workplace environment is crucial for both individual and organizational growth. When employees feel a sense of belonging, their productivity increases, and they are more likely to contribute to achieving organizational goals. Workplace friendships play a vital role in keeping employees motivated, creating a safe environment, and fostering social and mental development. Unfortunately, LGBTQ+ individuals frequently struggle to connect with peers due to social exclusion, bullying, and a lack of support. These challenges can hinder their career progression and, in many cases, lead to dropping out, causing them to fall behind.
To address these issues, fostering inclusivity in the workplace is essential. The Humsafar Trust has been actively working towards this goal through offline sessions in various formal workplaces across India. This project aims to create a compelling film to promote understanding, acceptance, and support within workplace environments. By sharing authentic stories, the initiative seeks to build a more inclusive atmosphere for all individuals.
PROPOSED WORK:
Producing a short fiction film on the theme of Inclusion at the Workplace, that will be used for workplace sensitization and to help advocate for workplace inclusivity.
OBJECTIVES:
The primary goal of this project is to create a film that fosters a more inclusive environment at workplace. By sharing authentic stories of LGBTQ+ Individuals and shedding light on their unseen experiences inclusivity will be fostered at the workplace, allowing LGBTQ+ individuals to enter workspaces in equitable proportions.
